Veganism, once a taboo subject, now over 2% of the UK population consider them selves as vegan or plant based, with that set to double in 2021.
So whats changed? Why all of a sudden is everyone talking about the 'V' word? And what does it actually mean to be a vegan or plant based?
Well we're going to try to explain and more importantly share just how awesome our very own Vegan Mayo is!
Plant Based Living
So what is a plant based diet?
Plant-based eating patterns focus on foods primarily from plants. This includes not only fruits and vegetables, but also nuts, seeds, oils, whole grains, and beans. You don't even have to completely give up meat or dairy to enjoy a plant based diet, rather proportionately choosing more of your foods from plant sources.
Many scientists and nutritionists recommend that eating plant based meals a couple of times a week, has huge health benefits, whilst also being kind to the environment.
The Vegan Diet
The vegan diet is a little different and strictly removes all animal products from diet and usually lifestyle. This means not only meats and dairy, but things such as honey, leather and any other animal products.
So why the rise in popularity over the past couple of years?
The biggest cause for the rise, is the accessibility to great tasting vegan food. For many the idea has been nice, but the practicality has put people off. But now supermarkets are stocking extensive and varied vegan meals and meat replacements. Fast food chains have launched vegan ranges and there are more independent vegan cafes and restaurants opening each week with exciting and delicious menus.
Vegan food is getting more exciting and now we can offer delicious Vegan Mayo that packs all the flavours of normal mayonnaise, just minus the eggs!
We don't like to brag here at Harrisons, but seriously our Vegan Mayonnaise is incredible. Its thick, its creamy and most importantly it's delicious. Vegan or not, any sandwich is improved with a generous helping of this Vegan Mayo.
So what are you waiting for, order yourselves some Harrisons Vegan Mayonnaise and tells us what you think? We love to hear feedback from all of our customers and why not tell us what vegan sauce you'd like to see next?
